“Vietnam’s World Heritage” exhibition opens

A photo exhibition featuring Vietnam’s world heritage opened on October 10, 2010 in the Exhibition Center for Fine Arts and Photography, 29 Hang Bai St., Hanoi to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the Hanoi Liberation Day. It is held from October 10 to 17, 2011.

The participants in the opening ceremony included Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the VNAT Hoang Thi Diep, Director General of Art, Photography and Exhibition Department Vi Kien Thanh, representatives of relevant departments, prize winners, press agencies…

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan said the event aims to review and present awards to winners of a photo competition which was launched from January to July, 2011 and to hounour the value of world heritage. Director General Vi Kien Thanh – head of organizing board of the photo competition said exhibited photos also enclose a brief summary in Vietnamese and English.

The exhibition displays 206 photos from 25 provinces and cities nationwide from a total of 2010 pieces of artwork. They focus on Vietnam heritage recognized by UNESCO, such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An Ancient Town, The central sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Ha Noi, Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Nha Nhac (the Vietnamese Court Music), the Space of Gong culture, Quan ho Bac Ninh folk songs, Ca Tru singing.

The jury has selected 16 photos seperated one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and ten consolation prizes. The first prize winner is Tran Viet Van from Hanoi.

The selected photos will be exhibited in some cities to promote tourism and raise public awareness of Vietnam’s efforts to preserve heritage. (Source: Hong Thanh (TITC))
