Phan Thiet City welcomed 80 visitors from Cruise ship Orion II on Tuesday morning, of whom 57 were from the U.S., with the remainder from Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, the U.K., Spain, Italy and Ecuador.
Departing from HCMC, Orion II arrived in Phan Thiet at 5 a.m. As Phan Thiet has no specialized wharf the cruise anchored two nautical miles offshore before being transferred to the mainland by boats. Guests were to visit popular destinations of the coast city such as Bau Trang sand dunes, Suoi Tien tourist area, Ham Tien-Mui Ne Tourist Area and play golf at Ocean Dunes Golf Club. The cruise will leave Phan Thiet for other coastal cities in the central region before finishing its journey in Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province.
This is the first time Phan Thiet City has welcomed an international cruise, giving more potential for local tourism. Binh Thuan Province expects more cruise visits in the future.
